Led by Dr. K. M Ashik, DCH., MD in Neonatology from Australia, the unit is manned by a team of experienced Neonatologists, 24x7 and they are available for telephonic discussion about cases you can get a first hand information about the latest development in baby’s care. We will also update you about the baby’s progress in the NICU.
On the successful completion of eleven years of neonatal service in our unit, we are indeed indebted to you unstained support and faith in us. The reduced cost and easy availability of surfactant locally, made us to use it frequently with the dramatic improvement in the outcome of extremely premature babies weighing 700gms with severe hyaline membrane disease. Previously the emphasis was solely on ventilator support. Dramatic progress in the field of neonatology has meant that even extremely premature babies now, have the best chances of survival and healthily outside the mother’s womb even when the baby weighs as little as 750gms with the basic emphasis on intact survival.
The NICU level III care is equipped with:
We have expertise to deal with
Not all respiratory distress are due to surfactant deficiancy or meoconium aspiration. it could well be surgical emergencies like diaphramatic hernia or tracheo-oeophageal fistula, dealing with which an efficient neonatal surgical team is available round the clock. we are also regularly screening all the nicu graduates for the ROP, hearing evaluation and neurological assessment as per international protocols.
The back bone of our unit is the strong and efficient PEDIATRIC & NEONATAL SURGICAL team here. This enables us to undertake surgical cases like:
